A Jigsaw of Fire and Stars Review

Synopsis

Sante was a baby when she was washed ashore in a sea-chest laden with treasure. It seems she is the sole survivor of the tragic sinking of a ship carrying migrants and refugees. Her people. Fourteen years on she’s a member of Mama Rose’s unique and dazzling circus. But, from their watery grave, the unquiet dead are calling Sante to avenge them: A bamboo flute. A golden bangle. A ripening mango which must not fall… if Sante is to tell their story and her own. Rich in the rhythms and colours of Africa and glittering circus days. Unflinching in its dark revelations about life.

This was and interesting story and I loved that it ended. Sometimes it is nice not to have to wait around for a sequel to see what happens.

Sante is head strong and determined. She is very talented but dosn’t always think things through but who does at fourteen. Samta learns just how cruel the world can really be and though she goes through a hard time she come out better off. I loved Cobra and his snakes. He is odd but very loyal. Cat I didn’t feel one way or another about. She just was. Scarlet I hated. Her insta love/ obsession with cat was annoying. The way she kept lying and then claiming they didn’t understand and crying to get out of it. It was like we get it you went through something bad but how can anyone help you if you keep lying.

The story is mysterious and intriguing. I really enjoyed it but can’t quite give if 4 stars so 3.5 it is ⭐️⭐️⭐️
