I was sent this book by the author for my honest opinion. The book has recently been translated into English from French.
Summary from Goodreads:
I really enjoyed this book. Once I had got through the first few chapters I couldn’t put it down. The world building is great and you get pulled right in. The magic system is well thought out and easy to understand. Apart from the typical, chosen one who is super powerful trope the storyline is great. I knew the story wouldn’t completely conclude in this book but I feel it ended in a satisfying way ready for book two.
My main complaint is that some of the chapters are too long and I feel they could have been broke up a bit more. I also didn’t like how both the romantic interests started off kind of pushy and domineering. Both characters develop to better suit the story it they both remain possessive.
I liked the characters. Lou is our MC. She has always felt she didn’t quite fit in and she gets to find out that’s because she is an enchanter. But not just any enchanter she is a moonchild which gives her an important mission. We watch her navigate the new world of magic and try to figure out what she really is human or enchanter in reality she is something in the middle. Lou is quick to trust which turns out to be fatal. Her interactions with the other characters are great. Apart from Flica we don’t get to know her team too much apart from there amazing abilities I hope we will get to know them better in the sequel.
Zach always raised alarm bells with me. He was just too nice especially after there initial encounter. I Blacks character he’s very complicated and has many layers to him.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. I hope the sequel is just as good. 4 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
